Sleeping finally!

Just a little positivity for your day!:)

Got my little man to smile! He’s doing so very well!! I haven’t wanted to jinx myself, but we went from waking up four times, or even every hour at night, to waking up once! Sleeping about 12 hours at night for the first time ever! We feel like a whole new family getting all this sleep around here haha!! Three times this week he didn’t wake up even once! I’m so grateful we are past some of the pain and agony he was going through, at least for a few months, we will have a break!! So, here’s to us having an amazing fall! We have already pulled the decor out!:) 🏹🥧🎃🍁🍂🌾🦃🦌

Quiet, yet not so quiet😂

I know I’ve been a bit quiet... but I can assure you it hasn’t been quiet around here!🙈😂 We’ve got quite the concoction of things going on haha!

~Dawson is still healing well from surgery!

~On the tail end of healing from his rhinovirus, and

~now getting through his second ear infection since surgery. This one is inner ear and has been a doozy!

~Daws is still waking up 3-5 times per night, because

~apparently we’re also in a leap/growth spurt ~along with teething. Go figure.🤷🏼‍♀️😂

I can’t get a picture of it yet, but his first tooth finally came through and has stayed as of this last week!!

We’re on the uphill climb, and thank God for the overall cooler weather! Daws loves to be outside! And it’s helping calm him!

Our nurses have been troopers over here, I don’t know how I would do this without them!

I think Apert families are the only ones that truly get how much Dawsons surgery has done for him and his health and how good his forehead is finally looking! We’re so pleased with the progress, even though it’s been quite the adjustment appearance wise. Also... yes, unfortunately, Daws has discovered he loves any sort of coke/soda!😂

After healing

It’s been a rough few days. Both for Daws, mom, dad and the nurses! Which is why I haven’t been able to update. I just haven’t mentally or physically been able to sit down type anything at all. Though, I will say first off, Dawson has healed very well from the surgery! Thank God!

This picture is him tonight, here at home, while taking his bath, which he loves so much! This virus he caught after surgery is sure holding onto him! He’s not sleeping more than about an hour at a time, coughing continuously, although we’re giving all the meds and breathing treatments available! He doesn’t want to be put down at all, so very little time is he lol. He’s the boss for sure right now🙈😂.

Exhaustion doesn’t even begin to explain how we’re feeling around here! We will make it through this! But there is no way to prepare for the mental toll all of this takes on parents. I think I can speak for most, if not all of us Apert families here... The pain and changes a baby goes through affects the parents even so much more than you can ever imagine! No one prepares you for just how much it affects you, to look at your baby and know there’s no going back to the baby you see in the pictures around your home. You learn to love this new look, because it’s still your baby on the inside. But it’s hard and emotional.

I will always be real, with the good and the bad! I don’t think updates should be sugar coated. It isn’t for sympathy or for people to try and make things better, but when people ask, I feel the truth should be said. Life isn’t all fairytales, no ones is and all we can do is our best! This little boy has a story, one that can potentially change lives and hearts, it already has changed ours drastically! We are learning love, acceptance and resilience like we’ve never known before! Writing about this helps process everything we’re going through, but I also pray it helps others! We are so grateful for everyone who reaches out! You never know just how much your kind words mean and when they come at just the right time. Brighter days are ahead! Until then, we will lean on those that we love and Jesus like never before!❤️
