Daddy took the first shift of the day! He’s headed back for surgery at 7:30! Prayers are appreciated for all involved... Daws, us and medical personnel = surgeons hands, anesthesiologist, nurses involved and the rest of the crew! There’s about 12 people in the OR last we heard. Surgery is expected to last about 5:30 hours. We’re a bit nervous, but he’s in Gods hands and the best world renowned cranio/plastics surgeon!

This is Face Equality week. I never knew how important this week was or that it even existed, before Dawson was born!

We have been so blessed with this bundle of joy! But taking him out generally causes people to say “oh gosh what a cutie.... (long pause) can I ask what he was born with?!” people of course have questions and most have never heard of Apert syndrome, but many people have seen a face that isn’t considered “typical” and it raises curiosity. I enjoy educating people on the differences on how some people are born compared to others! We don’t take offense to polite questions... and if some are rude I actually just speak up and let them know his story... it softens most when they are informed! This world isn’t necessarily easy to live in sometimes when you look a little different. But I’ll be doing my best to make it a little easier each time I’m offered the chance. Having a son who “looks a little different” definitely changes how you think, and you often wish you could show your love for him to others, so they could think a little differently too! Just because we look different, doesn’t mean we aren’t the same. #facialequalityweek #facialequality #apert #baby #equality

One week from today Daws has he’s second syndactyly release surgery!

It is so cute to see him using his little linked fingers! The last few weeks he’s really trying with his one hand that doesn’t hurt! I can’t get enough of his curiosity!

**update**

There is a lot of changes this go around with the hospital stay. We are going to do our best to go with the flow, but anyone who has been through surgery with your baby, it isn’t easy doing it solo. Jess and I are both going down to Dallas, but we will have to take shifts individually with Dawson during surgery, recovery etc. Help us pray they will make an exception, since they most certainly have the leeway to in Tx. It took 3 adults last time around the clock the first 24 hours.... we will need a lot of strength to get through this round! We are happy with the fact that we can continue as planned though! #syndactyly #surgery #syndactylyrelease #godshandsandfeet #apert #apertbaby #baby #hands #hospitalstay #covidmandates #dallas #medicalcitydallas #childrenshospital #drfearon #texasmandate #texas #covid #gregabbott #trump #changethemandate #change #babyneeds
