This is Face Equality week. I never knew how important this week was or that it even existed, before Dawson was born!
We have been so blessed with this bundle of joy! But taking him out generally causes people to say “oh gosh what a cutie.... (long pause) can I ask what he was born with?!” people of course have questions and most have never heard of Apert syndrome, but many people have seen a face that isn’t considered “typical” and it raises curiosity. I enjoy educating people on the differences on how some people are born compared to others! We don’t take offense to polite questions... and if some are rude I actually just speak up and let them know his story... it softens most when they are informed! This world isn’t necessarily easy to live in sometimes when you look a little different. But I’ll be doing my best to make it a little easier each time I’m offered the chance. Having a son who “looks a little different” definitely changes how you think, and you often wish you could show your love for him to others, so they could think a little differently too! Just because we look different, doesn’t mean we aren’t the same. #facialequalityweek #facialequality #apert #baby #equality
