Okay y’all, it’s so past time for an update! Life is fun with 3 kiddos, who all 3, individually require full time adult supervision haha!
So, we got back the report from Dawson’s sleep study, and it’s MUCH better news after Dr. Fearon (Apert specialist), read it! Both he and our local pulmonologist originally thought we would have to have a trach, but thankfully at this time and pray never, we don’t need to go to that extreme. Dawson does have severe sleep apnea, and goes up to 73 seconds without taking a breath continuously throughout the night. This would eventually cause health issues, including general growth and brain function. To prevent this, Dr. Fearon feels that a CPAP (+ possible BiPAP) machine will be beneficial! We are supposed to receive it this week! All of this also means, we can take his oxygen off for the most part, possibly just use for nap times. We have been doing the test runs recently, taking off the oxygen when he wakes up and testing his 02 levels throughout the day and he has responded very well, then replacing at night! He has been above 93% off of oxygen for the most part! We have been excited about this! ...now to get off the heart monitor during the day, so we can be totally free from being “attached to the wall” all the time!
Mr. man weighs over 13lbs and is really advancing quickly! We were not sure about milestones because of him being 6 weeks early, as well as the obstacles that can come with Aperts, but he is really proving us all wrong and excelling in everything for his age! He recognizes his favorite people, and always has a big old smile for them! Has started giggling and loves the anticipation of tickles coming at him; it’s really the cutest thing ever!! He is learning to use his tongue and make all sorts of coos, also... is trying to say DaDa! We have begun to find toys that he can play with, even though he has no fingers to grasp at this time, he really loves the ones that we can attach to his wrists... Or toys that he can touch or kick. He loves bath-time and bouncing in his bouncer is his favorite activity so far, we all get our workout haha! Teething is really coming in strong this week, so before we know it, he will be showing the little white pearls! We are so pleased with how well Daws is doing, and continue to feel so very blessed with his health! Apert babies vary greatly in how their health goes. God has really led us to figure out what works best for his little system and lead the doctors to the right medications, it has all helped Dawson in every way!
Hope everyone is having an amazing Fall so far! Thanks to each of you who continue to reach out often and to send words of encouragement, help with daily tasks and prayer! We appreciate each and everyone!
